Dennis's Orchids

Yes, I do grow orchids... As a matter of fact this is one thing (except breathing) that I has been doing for longer then anything else. I got my first orchid (a Phal. hybrid) sometimes in 1986.

I specifically collect Phalaenopsis species. My collection was almost entirely destroyed in 1994 by AC malfunction and I started over. Now I have only 18 Phal. species and a few other things.

Most of my current collection fits into a modified bookcase with a single 100 watt HPS bulb on top and a small fan to move the air.

My wife, Irina was kind enough to make a web interface to my experimental database of Phalaenopsis hybrids. The form mentiones all orchid genera, but only Phalaenopsis, Doritis, Doritaenopsis and Vanda are complete. Most other genera only have one or two records. Basically if it cannot be hybridised with Phals it is not there.
